Would you be willing to help TADAMS thrive?
TADAMS needs your help to survive and thrive. In our 2019 survey, you told us that what holds many back from volunteering is that the tasks seem confusing or overwhelming. We hear you!
We have divided roles into smaller, more manageable tasks. If we all pitch in together, it will not be so overwhelming.
What we need most are:
Dance hosts: We need about 4-5 people who would be willing to host once or twice a year. When? Periodically, whenever a host is needed, a communication will go out to this group of people in advance of the dance. Only need to host when it suits your schedule. To get familiar with what is involved, we encourage new hosts to work alongside a regular host at least once so you can feel comfortable with the task.
Time involved: Arrive ~45 min before the dance and staying ~30 minutes afterwards
Frequency: Once or twice a year
Benefits to you: fun and easy * get in free that night * sit out only 1-2 dances
Hosts for band or caller: We need 2 or 3 additional households who would be open to having an out of town band member or caller stay over after the dance. When a host is needed, a communication would be sent to those who’ve offered to open their home 7-10 days prior to the dance to check availability. You would only host when it suits your schedule. The more possible hosts we have, the more flexibility there will be with each person’s schedule.
Time involved: Once or twice a year. Meet guest and make them feel welcome (e.g.,breakfast, coffee, wifi).
Benefit to you: Meet fun and interesting people that love music and dance.
Webmaster: We have a webmaster for the time being, but he can always use some help keeping events up to date. Let us know if you have WordPress skills (or would like to develop some).
Time involved: Periodically. Most of the updates are in late winter to early spring, in preparation for the Springforth Ball.
Other possible roles for participating in the welfare of TADAMS:
Manage member email list: One person to maintain a list of member emails. Distribute the list periodically to those members who agreed to share their email (for carpooling, socializing, etc.).
Spread the word: Help advertise our group and our dances, especially given the upcoming changes in days and times. Postnotices at your local community spot or bulletin board, or on Instagram, Twitter, or other local traditional media, such as public radio or Style Magazine.
Print our quarterly schedule: Update ourdance card template and make arrangements to get it printed in time for it to be available at the first dance for each quarter. This person can either print it or email it to a board member to get it printed.
Time involved? An hour or so, four times a year (March, June, September & December)
If you would like to know more about what is involved, or if you are willing to help TADAMS with any of these roles, please contact any board member or email tadamsvacontra at gmail.com. You can go to the TADAMS Board page on this website to find out who is on the Board and how to contact them.
