Dance Caller’s Workshop 1/20/2024
January 20 @ 3:00 pm – 6:30 pm
This introduction to calling contra dances is for all dancers, musicians, or wanna-be callers.
The workshop will start promptly at 3:00pm. Please RSVP to allbrandt@cox.net so we know how many to expect. Invite your friends to come dance with us at 5:00pm (no charge) so you can have some practice calling to friendly faces.
Some of the topics we will cover: how dance music is structured, how dances fit the music, placing calls in time to the music, the importance of the walk through, and how to choose dances to call.
Even if you don’t plan to get in front of the microphone, you’re welcome to come learn more about the caller’s job. It could even improve your dancing or dance-playing skills!
