Community Values and Safety
TADAMS is committed to fostering a welcoming and respectful dance and music community by creating a safe, kind, and consent-based environment for everyone at our events.
We rely on all dancers to respect the physical and social safety of others, by following safe dance practices and interacting without causing distress. If anyone makes you feel unsafe, you can address them directly during or after the dance. If you are uncomfortable addressing the issue directly, please approach one of our Board Members, or contact us after the dance at tadamsvacontra@gmail.com, and we will work with you to resolve your situation and restore your sense of safety in our community.
Illness
Contra dancing involves social contact and moderate exertion. We encourage everybody to protect themselves and fellow dancers by taking the following precautions to prevent spreading germs.
- Do not attend if you are not feeling well or know you have been exposed to an infectious illness.
- If you become ill after a dance, please let us know at tadamsvacontra@gmail.com or by contacting a board member. We will let our community know of the possible exposure. We will keep your identity private.
- Please take precautions that you re comfortable with to protect yourself: vaccination, masks, hand washing, hand sanitizer, etc.
Covid
Effective June 6, 2023: TADAMS no longer requires proof of vaccination to attend our dances. Wearing masks remains optional. Contact tracing information and attendance will no longer be recorded at dances. Illness exposures will be communicated through our regular email list.
